Southeastern San Diego Live Well Career Training Program

  • Open to applicants 18-24 y/o living in SE San Diego catchment area (see website for more details)
  • Subject to income requirements
  • Provides 48 hours of paid career readiness training + potential paid internship
  • Participants who have been impacted by COVID-19 may be eligible to receive funds to cover the cost of childcare or utilities

This Way ONward

  • Open to County residents ages 16-24
  • Receive virtual job-readiness training, 10 weeks of on-the-job experience at Old Navy, and an opportunity to apply for a permanent position, all while getting paid!
  • Participating Old Navy store locations: National City, Vista, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Point Loma, Mission Valley or San Ysidro
  • No prior job experience or diploma needed to apply

Aging Workforce

In partnership with San Diego County Senior Centers, the Workforce Partnership is offering job readiness workshops and temporary, paid work experiences for job seekers, aged 60+.  In preparation for these “returnships” we are offering free virtual professional skills workshops three times weekly on topics including:

* Resume reboot
* Leveraging LinkedIn
* Generational identity
* Digital literacy
* Career coaching
* Networking

Construction Career Jumpstart

The program aims to diversify the entry-level pipeline for careers in the priority sector of energy, construction, and utilities. We’re offering paid-trainings with up to a $1,000 stipend. There will be rolling enrollment for each of the oncoming classes, with 24 spots per class and training courses ranging from 3 weeks to 5 weeks. Each training course also includes career coaching, resume building, and application assistance to ensure success with any of our employer partners.

Workers in this career pathway can become welders, linemen/linewomen, electricians and several other skilled positions paying $60k+ a year within 3-5 years. Training comes with a stipend, supportive services, and directly leads to positions as general skills tradespeople that begin at $18-$20/hour.

Eligible applicants should:

  • Live in San Diego County
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Have a valid CA driver’s license
  • Be able to physically engage in manual labor
  • Be able to attend in-person training full-time in Kearny Mesa; Monday – Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm.
