Boost your Immunity!

7 Easy Ways to Boost Your Immune System

How can you achieve better health? There are many articles out there about what’s healthy and what’s not, or what you should or should not eat. However, what about working with what you already have? Are you allowing your body to work with its immune system to its full potential? We don’t always need to pay for expensive medications, sometimes you just need to give your body the support it needs to protect you naturally.  Below are some ways we you naturally boost your immune system.

  1. Are you getting enough sleep?  Sleep is important! If you are not allowing your body to rest, you are not allowing your body to work at its full potential.  When we are tired we are weaker, when we are weaker we are more likely to be susceptible to germs and the flu! Give your body the rest it needs- get a good nights sleep.
  2. Eat more fruits and vegetables
Can we discuss anything more obvious? Your body needs these vitamins and nutrients to supplement what you lose during the day. Especially if you are an avid exerciser
  3. Eat more healthy fats
Healthy fats found in olive oil, avocado, and salmon help boost your body’s immune response by decreasing inflammation.
  4. Limit sugars
Much research shows that carbs and sugars are bad for you, can you avoid them altogether? Probably, but that’s just not realistic. However, sugars and carbs are linked to causing obesity and obesity does make you sicker. Avoiding added sugars can also deter some of the inflammation that happens in the body, and make your body more alert towards detecting pathogens (bad cells).
  5. Exercise
Okay, yes, prolonged heavy exercise can decrease your immune system, however, moderate exercise does the opposite, it increases your immune system. Regular moderate exercise can also reduce inflammation and help your immune cells regenerate regularly.
  6. Hydration!
Replenish your body with what you have lost, especially if you are really into working outside or exercising. Hydration doesn’t necessarily protect you from germs and viruses, but preventing dehydration is important to your overall health.
  7. Manage your stressors
Believe it or not, stress can make you sick! Try to manage what is stressing you out.   Remember not all stress is bad stress, some of it can be a good motivator.
