September Newsletter
September flew by, but it was filled with exciting firsts, cherished traditions, and continued success across our Compass living communities. Each moment reminded us of the power of combining housing stability with meaningful community connections, creating places where individuals feel supported, connected, and empowered to thrive. Here’s a look back at what made September so special!
As we shared earlier this year, our newest MGP affordable housing project, Bloom Apartments, was set to open in summer 2026, and we’re excited to announce that this brand-new living community is now accepting new residents!
Located in the heart of Hollywood, Bloom Apartments features 63 affordable homes designed to provide greater housing stability and strengthen the surrounding community. To learn more about this exciting project, check out our previous news post announcing the opening of Bloom Apartments.
Speaking of Compass firsts, last month we celebrated the one-year anniversary of our FUND program and shared some of the incredible impact it has made in its first year. Now, we’re excited to share the FUND Year One Impact Report, which takes a deeper look at FUND’s accomplishments, impact, and everything we’ve learned along the way. We invite you to explore the report and see what one year of FUND has made possible!
This month, properties across Compass found creative ways to showcase the talents of our incredible residents. At The Iris, residents came together to paint ceramic coasters, with many expressing their appreciation for the stencils as they explored their creativity and spent time painting together.
Similarly, residents at Alora & Estrella participated in a Talavera tile painting workshop, creating pieces that were not only beautiful, but practical too! These activities offered residents a fun opportunity to express themselves, try something new, and connect with their neighbors through creativity.
This September, Orchard hosted its very own Talent Show! Residents of all ages gathered for delicious food, drinks, and snacks while enjoying the talents of their neighbors. Some performances even brought tears to residents’ eyes, including a beautiful rendition of Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come.”
The creativity didn’t stop there! At 1050B, residents continue to gather every Friday for their ongoing Art Program, where all forms of creativity are welcome, from painting and sculpture to whatever their imaginations inspire.
While exciting new programs create memorable experiences, consistent activities are just as important. By offering programs tailored to the unique interests and needs of each property, we can continue building stronger connections and creating meaningful opportunities for residents to come together.
Like the weekly Art Program at 1050B, many Compass living communities have created consistent events that residents eagerly look forward to. At The Helm, Bingo has become a resident favorite, while at Symphony, residents enjoy gathering for their weekly Coffee & Tea.
At Orange Gardens, community-led cooking classes continue to bring residents together. This month, residents prepared delicious fish tacos, and one resident even created a special collage commemorating the experience!
These ongoing traditions show how consistent programming can create meaningful opportunities for residents to connect, participate, and build a stronger sense of community.
What allows Compass to flourish is our commitment not only to our residents, but to their overall well-being. By working alongside partners who share similar values and missions, we can continue expanding the support and opportunities available within our communities.
As previously shared, Mondrian Studios is undergoing extensive renovations, which can naturally bring added stress for residents. To help ease some of those concerns, HA Builder Group collaborated with Mondrian Studios Resident Services Coordinator Xochitl Gonzalez to create Halloween-themed gift baskets for the children of Mondrian.
Collaboration also creates opportunities for learning! At Shoreline, students from Patrick Henry High School gather every Monday with younger residents for engaging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities, combining education, creativity, and fun.
As we reflect on September’s events, accomplishments, collaborations, and milestones, one thing remains clear: Compass continues to grow and flourish while staying committed to creating stable, affordable housing and thriving communities where residents can feel supported and connected.
