Operations Coordinator

Isabella Simmons is the Operations Coordinator at Compass. With a background in psychology and customer service, she combines these skills to support the people and communities she serves. She was inspired to join Compass after learning about its mission to support individuals and families through meaningful programs and services. Her approachable, positive, and outgoing personality allows her to foster strong connections with coworkers, community partners, and residents while creating an environment where people feel comfortable communicating and collaborating.

During her nearly two years with Compass, Isabella has developed an understanding of the affordable housing industry and the many moving pieces that contribute to a successful organization. Although affordable housing is a new field for her, she has quickly applied her transferable skills from working with people and navigating high-stress environments to problem-solve, communicate effectively, and work well with others.

In her time at Compass, Isabella has taken on increasing responsibilities, including coordinating large-scale community events across Compass properties and assisting with the behind-the-scenes details of daily operations. Through these experiences, she has strengthened her skills in planning, communication, organization, and delegation while ensuring the needs of her coworkers and community partners are met.

She has also embraced opportunities to get involved beyond her day-to-day role. One of the highlights of Isabella’s time with Compass has been her participation on the scholarship committee in partnership with Affirmed Housing, where she represents Compass. She was also nominated by several colleagues to serve as the MC for the annual Douglass W. Masson Scholarship Awards Ceremony, where she welcomed guests and had the honor of announcing each of the scholarship awardees.

Her ability to connect with people, adapt to new challenges, and bring a positive attitude to her work makes Isabella a valuable asset to the Compass team.

Digital Communications Coordinator

While continuing her role as the Resident Services Coordinator at The Orchard, Mayrin Rodriguez has also taken on the role of Digital Communications Coordinator here at Compass for Affordable Housing. With a background and passion for graphic design, brand management, and organizational growth, Mayrin naturally transitioned from occasionally assisting with graphic creation and website maintenance to taking on a dedicated role with direct responsibilities and a title to match. With her outgoing and ambitious nature, Mayrin has embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm, continuously growing her skills and talents alongside the growth of Compass. Through her work, she helps strengthen Compass’ digital presence and share the stories, successes, and impact happening across our communities.

During her time at Compass, Mayrin has introduced a number of new social initiatives that have steadily grown Compass’ digital presence, allowing potential residents, partners, and collaborators to better understand who we are and what we do.

From creating a monthly newsletter with over 100 subscribers, to maintaining a consistent schedule of articles and community highlights across the Compass website and LinkedIn, Mayrin has helped create new ways for Compass to connect with its audience. Through these initiatives and many others, she continues to highlight the heart and soul of the Compass organization: our Resident Coordinators and the communities they serve.

Mayrin’s role is simple, yet imperative to the day-to-day of operations at Compass For Affordable Housing. Through her work, Mayrin tells our story, strengthens our voice, grows our audience, and keeps Compass viable.
