Compass Welcomes Gerald Simpson as Resident Services Manager, Strengthening Leadership Team and Resident Services

San Diego, CA — Compass is pleased to announce that Gerald Simpson has joined the organization’s management team as Resident Services Manager, bringing more than a decade of experience in human services, housing, and community-based support to the role.

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Gerald Simpson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ohio Northern University. His career began in a mental health prison setting, where he gained firsthand experience supporting individuals with complex behavioral health needs—an experience that shaped his long-standing commitment to social justice, advocacy, and service.

Gerald’s professional background spans multiple facets of housing and supportive services. He brings eight years of experience in property management within permanent supportive housing and four years as a case manager supporting individuals experiencing chronic homelessness alongside mental health and substance use challenges. His work consistently bridges operational expertise with compassionate, person-centered care.

Most recently, Gerald served as a Housing Coordinator for a justice-enhanced Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program, where he specialized in securing stable housing for individuals transitioning directly from the justice system. In this role, he collaborated closely with community organizations, government agencies, and property owners, negotiating critical housing terms to support long-term stability and successful reentry.

In his new role at Compass, Gerald will oversee and strengthen resident services across multiple communities, helping ensure programs are responsive, effective, and aligned with Compass’s mission of building strong, supportive environments where residents can thrive.
