June Newsletter
As we look back on the month of June, the Compass team is proud to reflect on another month of serving our residents and strengthening the communities we call home. Through engaging resident programs, community-building events, and dedicated supportive services, we continued our mission of expanding access to affordable housing while fostering meaningful connections.
At Compass, community is at the heart of everything we do. It is what inspires us to create spaces where residents feel supported, connected, and empowered to thrive.
We invite you to take a look back at some of the highlights from June and celebrate the incredible moments that made this month one to remember.
Earlier this June, Compass was honored to attend the 2026 San Diego Housing Federation Ruby Awards, where two of our team members were recognized for their outstanding work. Mayrin Rodriguez, Resident Services Coordinator, was nominated for her dedication at Orchard at Hilltop, while Jaime Albarelli was recognized for her leadership in developing and implementing Compass' FUND Eviction Prevention Program. It was a wonderful evening celebrating those making a difference in affordable housing.
This month also marked an exciting milestone as the first participants graduated from our FUND financial literacy program. One graduate, Bania, shared that the course gave her the confidence to better understand budgeting, savings, and even concepts like inflation, finally answering the question, "Where do I even start?" Stories like hers remind us of the lasting impact resident services can have.
Compass is also excited to announce our newest MGP development, Bloom, opening Summer 2026. Located in the heart of Hollywood, this 64-unit, 100% affordable housing community offers residents convenient access to the Metro station and other transportation options. We look forward to welcoming Bloom's first residents and continuing to build thriving communities.
Our communities welcomed the start of summer by making the most of the season together. The Helm and The Orchard kicked things off with their own Welcome Summer BBQs, bringing residents together for food, fun, and plenty of sunshine.
With school out and more time spent at home, our Resident Services Coordinators kept the excitement going through engaging activities that encouraged connection and friendly competition. Residents at The Iris sang their hearts out during karaoke, while 1050B enjoyed an afternoon of lively Bingo games.
Creativity also became a way to build community. Symphony hosted a DIY body scrub workshop where residents not only learned a new skill but also formed new friendships. At Studio 15, neighbors gathered for a relaxing Paint & Sip, letting their creativity flow while enjoying great conversation.
As always, Compass remains committed to supporting residents' wellness and safety. Orange Gardens welcomed the local Fire Department for a fire safety and emergency preparedness presentation, while Auburn Park hosted a summer wellness event focused on hydration, local water resources, and staying healthy during the warmer months. Skyline hosted several Yoga classes, showing residents that taking care of yourself does not require much, but a peace of mind. Together, these events continue to strengthen the communities we are proud to serve.
