Episode 2: How did we get here? A Housing History Part I
Episode 2 of Defining Affordable is out!
We trace how today’s housing shortage was built—starting with The New Deal–era policies that expanded access for some while deliberately excluding others. These early decisions still shape affordability challenges today.
This episode covers the timeline through the 1960s and sets the stage for Part 2, where we’ll dig into urban renewal, housing vouchers, and the evolution of LIHTC.
We also just launched our Substack—a space to go deeper on each episode. We’ll share additional context, ideas that didn’t make the cut, and open up discussion.
